Looking for my avatar ...
What I like about Persian depiction of women is that it doesn't objectify the woman as the subject of gaze, but that it mystifies her as the muse of spirit.
Firstly, the two women playing Polo in the last image are very heavily mustached. As an American I can only project from that image that the women of Iran have more testosterone than Ann Coulter.
Second, please clarify Iranian understanding of the object/subject in Iran. I'm having trouble sorting the subjective from the object. Maybe you imported one too many false dichotomies from the American feminists. Or maybe I was sleeping on the day they covered Jung

One of the greatest auction houses of the world has set shop in Dubai. Apparently about 80% of what they sell is Art work by Iranians. You can have a Farschian painting for something between 40,000-70,000 Euros.

ReplyDeleteIn fact Iranian miniature is greatly influenced by Chinese art. Keep in mind that the silk road crossed through Iran.
And this "oriental" flavor is what distinguishes Iran's art from the rest of the Islamic art.
Persian miniature is the (Far-Eastern-Most) form of Islamic art, and it has its own identity that greatly distinguish itself from other forms

so YES, Persian art has unique origin & longest term historical ID
the 3rd (farshjian-2) & 6th (farshch1) i prefer the most!
