Salaam Naj...again, keep up the good work...be sure to stay in touch...hopefully I'll get round to adjusting my blog so you can actually view it...i've never been sure about how many posts i should be displaying at any one time...is there a norm???   4. If I may impose, I wonder if you could define the word "taarof" for me? I suppose it to mean something akin to "modest grudging empathy" as expressed by a people. I ran across the word recently in reading the National Geographic writeup on Persia. The article seemed to suggest that conquering armies would be accommodated by the ancient Persians with a sort of friendly but secretive attitude. Thus softening the occupation but allowing for quiet resistance.
