As far as I can tell it is a recipe for barbecue chicken.

Hi Poetryman,

I wish this was a chicken recipe. Unfortunately it is the tale of -unofficial' torture in Iran; by fundamentalists who operate "in the name of Islam" but are also not known to the government.

Pen name seems to be a defendant of the Iranian fundamentalists; and thus I wished him to make me understand HOW such atrocity can take place in a country that is "tough on crime!"

And most importantly, why the leadrs of the judiciary system in Iran, ALTHOUGH HIGHLY DISAPPROVE OF SUCH PRACTICES, are afraid to do anything about it.

I fear for a fascist future in Iran; and if Obama and that stupid senile Biden (not ready to make nice. Your Munich speech was disgusting.) keep on the old track, then my fears are exacerbated.

I am sure that goes on around the world even here as you know. You'd be surprise4d what happens if they think they ca get away with it or lie it away.
Of course I couldn't read that but it really made me wonder, are numbers universal to every language. Do you count in English or do we use something else? Am I being naive? Now be nice!

Jim,

I have no clue what you mean by "do you count in English" ...

And what you mean by "Now be nice!"
I am always nice; but not to freaking Zionists, or Nazis or any other sob (e.g some brand of Muslims or Christians) who promote someone's superiority over someone else's ! :)

:))

I am one of the sweetest people you will ever meet in person :)

jmsjoin said...

Just kidding about the be nice comment! As for the numbers I mean languages are different but counting seems to be universal to all. No?

Naj said...

I think counting is universal. But numbers do not mean the same to all of us do they?

We easily sleep on the idea of 1330 people being killed in 3 weeks; but we ravish the world if the same number are killed on American soil!

I wish numbers meant the same!

I agree numbers are all the same but their impact is different on all of us. It might be too simple but that alone is a big part of our problem!

Naj said...

The numbers are not a problem; the value that we assign things, and abstraction of it into numerical digits is.

We digitize our values. But the problem is that we do not stick to a consistent digitization scheme :)

e.g. one life for one. Instead we say things like: "500,000 Iraqi children was a price we had to pay"! This is what Ms Albright thought when she imposed drug and food embargo on Saddam!!

"She" had to pay with 500,000 children of "others"!

بِسۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

You have a very valid point to raise here and to continue to do so.

For since the death of Imam Ali there has never been a Muslim polity, society, or state in which a Muslim's person, property, or namus has been safe.

Today, it is the same - in Iran, in Turkey, in Algeria, in Pakistan, anywhere you care to mention.

Of course, there are many other countries that there is no consistent and reliable Rule of Law that are not Muslims; China, India, Brazil are examples.

But we discuss here Muslim states.

This is a very very deplorable case and I think you are correct in publicizing these and other cases such as these and thus help advance the cause of Justice - since we believe that God is Just.

And the Quran also states:

ان الله یامر بالعدل والاحسان وایتاء ذى القربى

But this is going to take ceturies to overcome - certainly decades.

It is not caused by the Islamic Government of Iran - it is the nature of our society. You can change the government of Iran from Islamic to non-Islamic and these types of things will still happen.

Thank you Pen.

Although I appreciate your stance, I do not think your explanation addresses the need for a "leadership" on these issues.

Mohammad, PROTESTED against torturing the black slave, Balaal!

Why are your favorite leaders Mahmood, and Seyed Ali silent on these matters? why are they complicit? why don't they take Quoranic leadership and denounce torture?

Why don't we have new interpretations of Quoranic punishment? we are Shiites. We ought to! We claim we are progressive!

This is political and intellectual laziness to assume "torturing the opponent" is a fact of our society. Even if it is it must CHANGE!
If we have been able to kick Ameicans out, which as you stated was not such a trivial thing; if we succeeded in standing up to the united West and East in 8 years of sacred defense, then we CAN stop such petty practices!

I want a leadership in Iran to publicly announce: "we allow journalists say all they wish, but we will lead the society by example; we have nothing to hide; we are just!" But we don't have that! And I demand that from Ahmadinejad! From Khamenei!

I deplore Khomeini's decree to kill Salman Rushdi!

I deplore Khomeini's decree to kill "Monafeghin" in mass execution in Evin!

I deplore this unjust society that is wearing the cloak of Islam! There is nothing Islamic about the Iranian government. To be fanatic doesn't make it Islamic!

The actions of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as far as the Iranian citizens are concerned, have DAMAGED Islam!

And I (or you) would not have total moral authority to wash-off their unjustices and give them full support until at least they begin to TRY a new order!

Why is Ayatollah Shahroodi SILENT?!

Why cant we get rid of "Gaazi Mortazavi"?

And will you stand up, when they put someone like me (who dedicates all she has to that country) in jail, on charges of "treason"?

You wrote: “Mohammad, PROTESTED against torturing the black slave, Balaal!”

Yes, he did and you have a strong case to protest and seek redress based on the Hadith of the Prohpet.
Thus you will have an unassailable position from which you can extend the coverage for the consistent and reliable Rule of Law in Iran.

You wrote: “Why are your favorite leaders Mahmood, and Seyed Ali silent on these matters? why are they complicit? why don't they take Quoranic leadership and denounce torture?”

Those two people are politicians and not martyrs. There is only so much that they can do within the Law – if they want to set examples of obeying the Law themselves. You may consider what happened to Mr. Aghajeri. That was a disgrace and again you have a good point and I support you.

You wrote: “Why don't we have new interpretations of Quoranic punishment? we are Shiites. We ought to! We claim we are progressive!”

Some of the Quranic punishments are immutable since they are the word of God and thus binding at all times and all places.
Some others may be altered but the progress in changing them would be slow.

It took 25 years to equalize the blood money of Muslims and non-Muslims.

It took 30 years to increase the inheritance portion of the wife.
Traditions of 1400 years cannot be changed rapidly.

You wrote: “This is political and intellectual laziness to assume "torturing the opponent" is a fact of our society. Even if it is it must CHANGE!”

That is true as far as it goes; Muslims became lazy 600 years ago and they still are.

Only in Iran and Turkey we have 3000 books translated a year from other languages.

In Arab countries it is 1/10 that number.

Indonesia and Malaysia are hopeless cases.

You wrote: “If we have been able to kick Americans out, which as you stated was not such a trivial thing; if we succeeded in standing up to the united West and East in 8 years of sacred defense, then we CAN stop such petty practices!”
When there is no respect for the Law, you have these things.

The Iranian police is creating its own laws – men cannot sell women’s underwear, breaking fast in public is not allowed, young women cannot wear boots – which is illegal.
There are deep flaws in the Iranian legal structures, you are correct.

But blaming Islam is not correct – you have to blame the Iranian mentality.

You wrote: “I want a leadership in Iran to publicly announce: "we allow journalists say all they wish, but we will lead the society by example; we have nothing to hide; we are just!" But we don't have that! And I demand that from Ahmadinejad! From Khamenei!”

Yes, I agree. We need freedom of press.

Although most Iranian papers, in case of freedom of journalism, will join the nagging party – the Iranian national past time and character.

You wrote: “I deplore Khomeini's decree to kill Salman Rushdi!”
Well, Rushdie had insulated the Prophet and Ayatollah Khomeini had expressed his legal opinion.
And no Muslim leader went against him – not even that Mickey Mouse Jordanian – King Hussein [bought and paid for by US].

You wrote: “I deplore Khomeini's decree to kill "Monafeghin" in mass execution in Evin!”

Yes, a blemish on Khomeini’s record if he indeed had endorsed it.

You wrote: “The actions of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as far as the Iranian citizens are concerned, have DAMAGED Islam!”
I disagree, it has strengthened Islam. We are standing against the Godless Global Arrogance in the name of Islam.

You wrote: “And I (or you) would not have total moral authority to wash-off their unjustices and give them full support until at least they begin to TRY a new order!”

I never excused their injustices – in fact I have advocated a Truth Commission in which the families of the executed – from 1979 – can appeal the sentences of their loved ones and have the cases reviewed, their dead rehabilitated, and blood money paid.

You wrote: “Why is Ayatollah Shahroodi SILENT?!”

I do not know – you have to ask him.

You wrote: “Why can’t we get rid of "Gaazi Mortazavi"?”

You do not know the history of judiciary in Iran. Davar, Reza Khan’s Justice Minister, got a law passed in Majlis in 1930s that enabled the Justice Minister to remove judges at will and destroyed judicial independence.

Islamic Republic has tried to restore judicial independence by creating a separate branch of government with its own head and with very strong judicial independence.

That is why it has been difficult to discipline judges that issue illegal execution of stoning sentences.

You wrote: “And will you stand up, when they put someone like me (who dedicates all she has to that country) in jail, on charges of "treason"?”

I most likely won’t stand up since I am a weak and pathetic human being.

I am not a hero.

But I think I can get my wife to bring you some food and other necessities.

Anyway, you are not a threat to Islamic Republic.

When we beat our chests and shed tears for ahl-e beyt and syyed al shohada we only acknwolege our own weakness - for the Path of Karbal is not for everyone.

Mr. Mortazavi is not satanic - as you have suggested. You do not approve of him - but that is something else.

T'avil and Tafseer are not trivial issues. You can look at Mr. Ganji's comments on the Quran and get a glimpse of diversity of opinions as well as differences in methodologies employed by the Doctors of Religion.

We are presently trying to limit the damage that US is doing to Iran as well as kicking them out of the Middle East as a political and military power. They have only caused more problems over the last 40 years. They should go to their own country and stay there.
