Neda's (and other martyr's) Memorial

Just a quick note,

Today, The People had planned to remember their martyrs by a silent sit-in vigil in "7 Tir square".

Basijis (of course many basijis, who would have been the true guardians of Iran are resigning in protest of sullying their names in recent events) have been bussed-in to prevent people from forming large crowds. (pepper spray, tear gas, and batons--add to it body odor, FREAKINGLY ugly faces, and disgustingly thuggish manners).

Instead, people are turning on their car's headlights ...

They have been successful in intimidating people into inaction, but it is not the fear of death really, it is the indignity of dying in the hands of such gangsters ... please do not believe these who engage in beating of people subscribe to ANY high moral or religious ground ... they are gangsters, on a payroll ... they are as much representative of Iranians 'rural and religious' as those deranged teens who open fire on their highschool classmates in American schools are representative of an American youth ...

We must resist stereotyping the true believers of Islam and Islamic revolution with these ugly men who are brutalizing their fellow countrymen ...

Communications are cut ... I have no news of my family ... and I Am very very very worried ...

Is there any word about what business is doing? Are shops closed? Are buses running? Or has the protests brought the country to a standstill?

She was not a martyr. She was going about her business and was accidentally killed.

Neda is now well known all over the world. It won't help her anymore but it may help those to go on with their struggle for a just cause. It will also help those outside Iran to remain focused on the road to change and give their moral support. Your cries are heard and listened to..
Dear Naj: I hope your family is well.It is not likely that something bad has happened to all of them without anybody noticing..keep up your spirit..goodbye from Holland - Martin Wijn

Thinking of you Naj! I was angry listening to what the Basij was doing. I was happy to see this and you will be too. I am so impressed with the people:

Things are going from bad to worse for the Basij and they are starting not only to lose ground, but to fear for their safety.

There are many reports that most Basij forces are now hiding their identities with masks for fear of reprisal.

There are websites being created featuring images and often identities of Basij who have been violently repressing students, calling for action to be taken against those men.

Now the youth have started to hunt Basij as well. In their own neighborhoods, where they know each others, they are now laying trap to known basij members, using side streets and houses to attack. They strike, and then they hide, only to regroup further, launch another attack and disperse again. Every house is unlocked and they have the tacit support of the population while noone helps the Basij. This might explain why the IRG has been called to take a more active role in the future.

Thank you all. I have spoken to a sister in the US and she had gotten a hold of parents, they seemed well. There seem to be some level of normalcy present as well. There is news that he position of supreme leader may be abolished.

If that happens, the Persian land has departed from its millinia-long tradition of mono-theism mono-kingism!!

I am holding my breath ...

We are all holding our breath with you Naj.

This is the time when we all can be thankful and relieved by NOT having Johnny (Bomb Bomb) McNeocon as our president.

Despite his rightward leaning flaws, it is best that we have Obama's cool demeanor in the White House during this crisis.

I am certain that there will one day be a memorial to Neda and the other brave men and women who have and will die in this struggle for freedom! Generations yet unborn will speak their names with reverence.

It is good to hear that not all Basijis are beating and murdering their fellow Iranians. I agree, the rest are nothing more than criminals, thugs, and gangsters.

I see in your latest comment you have learned your parents are well. I'm sure you are much relieved.

I hope the position of Supreme Leader will be abolished. No one should have that much power!

Dave Dubya,

yupp! Although Johny McCain is still bombombing any chance he gats.

David,
But I think it has now become clear to everyone that the powers of the supreme leader are really NOT absolute, and that there is a group of people who oversee and judge his fitness for the job.

Frankly, this system of democracy is not entirely bad, IFF the supreme leader has a brain in his freaking head! In fact, we all looked up to him to SOLVE this problem ... freaking idiot didn't and disappointed me so very much, because I always thought that he is in fact some form of an enlightened man (but the kind who beat up his sons to force them become clerics! you know ... ) anyways, he has made me very very very angry!

I have been banished by my family, branded as mullah-lover, and i have been enduring quite a few grins of: "look what your 'philosopher king' is capable of!"

okey I go sleep ... I am EXHAUSTED ... at least i know everyone is alive and normal now.

THANK YOU DEmeur, Yaacov, Rick (you have Persian nieces?), Nunya, Vagabond, Martin, Jim, Gene, David and Dave Dubya.

Pen Name: REPENT old man repent, and I may forgive you for your refusal to at least REGRET that your fascist ilk is MAKING A GRAVE historical error!

So, you at least know of Plato's Republic - Jumhur in Persian.

But Mr. Khamenei will be the last Philosopher-King of Iran.
