My friend has eye witnessed some of the plain-clothe security people (whom I consider the fascists) being arrested for harassing people.
A totally silent (i mean literally without any words or slogans chanted) has taken place in downtown Tehran.
I am happy with everyone today! Now, we need SERIOUS investigation into vote rigging. If it is not true, it has to be estabished WITHOUT intimidation and in a manner that is obvious to all three candidates.
Interestingly, the first person to launch a formal and OPEN complaint against the vote results was Mohsen Rezayee the founding father of the revolutionary guards, and the alternative conservative candidate!

Just take car of yourself. Still praying and hoping things turn out of the best.
Leave it up to Larijani to make things a little better :D
I was semi-relieved when I read the news today.
Did you read Abbas Abdi's accounts of vote rigging?

I'm just not sure how much of this stuff can really be unraveled with an investigation. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
Naj, what is really frustrating is that outside of Iran, I think we are under attack from two sides (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it makes you think more):
1. The main stream media that keeps comparing the movements to other Western backed color coded revolutions only to destroy its credibility and lovingly and mockingly moves over the sea of people on camera
2. The likes of this article which I've seen NUMEROUSLY that claim we protesters are out of touch with mainstream Iranians and we're only complaining because we can't bear to admit we've lost.
I hope that the people who are beating and killing peaceful demonstrators will eventually have to face justice. As far as I am concerned, a lot of the top leaders of the regime should be brought to trial for crimes against humanity.
I heard of the huge silent march. What a powerful statement the peaceful marchers made!
I don't think an investigation into vote rigging would be of much use unless it was truly fair and objective. However, wouldn't it just be simpler to count the 40 plus million ballots that were cast? It is obvious that the real ballots were never counted. I hope the regime has not destroyed the ballots. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to do that.
I have heard a few encouraging things today. The Council of Experts will meet in emergency session. I understand they have the authority to choose a new Supreme Leader. It would be very interesting if they decide that the current Supreme Leader should be demoted. I have heard that former President Rafsanjani, head of the Council of Experts, is a long time foe of Khamanei. Also, I heard that the two most senior Grand Ayatollahs have spoken in support of the millions of Iranians who are demonstrating. I know that Grand Ayatollah Montazeri was once in line to become Supreme Leader, but he has been essentially under house arrest for years after a falling out with revolutionary leader Khomeni. Montazeri warned the police and the army not to harm the peaceful demonstrators because orders do not excuse them in the eyes of God. The other Grand Ayatollah (forgot his name) said that "election fraud is a mortal sin".
I am starting to have a feeling that good things may be possible. I am cautiously optimistic, but I fear there is still more violence to come.
You are making progress; everyone is watching and hoping for your success.
Our election here is US was stolen in 2004 but it was so close that many thought it not arguable, and the Supreme Court ruled to not do a recount. Most of us just closed down and hoped for a better future in 4 years and !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YA
