Hilarious: Ahmadinejad's greeted with the Shah's anthem!

This is the official report from IRI's TV.
shaahanshaahe ma zende bada ... I don't remember the rest of it; I hardly had time to learn it in school, then revolution happened!:))

You're right. That is TOO hilarious!

Naj, as funny as that it is, it's even funnier when you take into account that President Ahmadinejad still uses the Shah's old Boeing 707 jetliner (seen in the video) to make these trips.

Those old Shah era 707s (which are operated by the Iranian air force) are considered so vintage, old aircraft enthusiasts actually wait for them to arrive at international airports, in hopes of snapping a photo to publish on an aviation board.

(I'll be laughing about that band tune all day!)

Pirouz, this shows what kind of illiterate and naive fools are running Iran, its media, its military ... running it to mud, to dust, to nothingness!

If you could read persian, I would recommend you to read "khaneh Edrisiha" by Ghazale Alizadeh. Or watch Banoo, by Dariush mehrjooi! There is Reza baraheni's Avaze Kostegan; or Gholamreza Saedi's Otello dar sarzamine ajayeb!

Naj, thanks so much for the suggestions.

Unfortunately, it appears the only access I have is to a pre-revolution work by Reza Baraheni and a different film by Mehrjooi (which I plan on viewing).

You're right, the IRI TV news producer should have caught that. All I can say is that back in the GW Bush days, when Chinese President Hu came to Washington, they actually announced him as the president of the Republic of China (Taiwan)! So maybe the Venezuelans can be forgiven. (Somebody should clue them in, though.)

Pirouz

comparison of Ahmadinejad's & Bush's inaptitude/corruption/cronyism is an accurate one! :)
