Reagan cut a deal with Iran's Islamists to overthrow Carter

Barbara Honegger (a researcher and policy analyst with the Reagan/Bush campaign in 1980):
"T
he very possibility that Carter could bring the hostages home was close to certain to wreck a Reagan bid for the presidency. So the Reagan campaign took phenomenal secret measures to ensure that the Carter white house was not successful. Reagan's 1980 campaign manager, William Casey, was knowledgable, before the fact, of the upcoming Carter Desert 1 rescue attempt of April, 1980. Now that is a phenomenal fact, because many of even the highest level officers in Carter's own CIA were kept in the dark about that very operation."

I have previously also posted on the curious relations between Iran's fundamentalists and America's Neoconservatives.

Hashemi's Urge to Talk confirms my earlier suggestions that the recent rhetorical exchanges are a part of the political game that Hashemi has been playing with Neocons, since Iran-Contra. Stay tuned!

To remember: Robert Parry's investigation into the players involved in the surprise release of the American Hostages.
(Thanks rickB. I didn't post it before because I didn't want to mix Jamshid Hashemi, with the Hashemi I am talking about in this post.)

I wouldn't doubt this at all. I am going to have to come back and read more after I put my story together on the use of Bin Laden for Bush's gain but first I just saw this and knew you would be interested.
U.S. dismisses El Barridei snipes over Iran! I am sick of this!

Heh!

Wonder if the new Tom Casey is a son of the older William Casey!

you see, it's just an organized crime! They have hijacked America! Time to awaken!

Let's thank Bush for being so stupid to give us clues about how these gangsters operate!

"Casey was with GE Capital Corp. from 1992 through 2002 where he held advising, controllership and analyst positions prior to becoming a Vice President of GE and Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of GE Financial Assurance in 1999." (Forbes)

Is this GE Capital Corp. an offspring of the Good old symbol of America's modern comfort, GE, the Nazi business partner?!

It also seems that people have forgotten about how we were selling the Iranians arms back in the Reagan era.

No, the traitor Ollie North is a HERO in Wingerland.

Good post, Naj. Just like all the other plans of the Neo-cons, this one will come back and bite them on the *ss.

Absolutely Reagan made a deal with the Iranians to release the hostages after the election. I can't remember the name but an insider came forward, blew the whistle, and the incident was investigated by Congress. A book was written about it but I can't remember the title right now. I'll try to find it and get back to you.

Never mind. I'm an idiot. I didn't read the first sentence...

"Barbara Honegger" was the person I was thinking of. Please disregard my previous comment.

"Cartoon: Iranians as Cockroaches!?"
http://18monthsandcounting.wordpress.com/2007/09/06/cartoon-depicts-iranians-as-cockroaches/

Did you post here?

Wonder

Anonymous,

I am not sure if I understand your question. Can you ask it in Persian please?

If you are asking whether I posted about the Cartoon, no I didn't! These things are too cheap and idiotic to deserve any space on my blog!

Hello naj! Thank you for stopping by my blog earlier.

I agree that there seems to be a close relationship between the Iranian fundamentalist and America's neo conservatives. The American neo's use religion in order to suppress just as any fundamentalist religion. I'm not anti-religon, just anti fundamentalism.

I have no trouble believing there was an awful lot of behind the scenes stuff going on with the Iranian hostage situation when Carter was President and Reagan was running against him. It's not uncommon, IMO, that the Republican party will always put their party before their country or their countrymen. People used to say that talk like that was nothing but "conspiracy theories", but I see an awful lot of these "theories" becoming fact lately.

Great blog! I'll add you to my blogroll, if that's ok?

Hi Mary Ellen,

Thanks for dropping by.

Yes, I keep saying "thank god for Bush's stupidity, so at least now more people are less naive!"

When 911 happened, we told people that this was THE plot, that the Cheney has wanted a war with Afghanistan since 10 years ago, that Mossad was linked to the attack ... we got ATTACKED by our intellectual friends who thought such $H!t will NOT ever happen in the US' great democracy!

All those friends shake their heads in sorrow that the conspiracy theories are not really theories, but obscurED facts!

I hope this will translate into a global momentum, to free America from the "institutionalized" interests that motivate the neoconservatives.

Hi Naj. First, thanks for your visit and comments at Politics Plus.

I was aware at the time that Reagan campaign team was involved in keeping our hostages captive until after Carter was out of office and was quite upset at the time. I think those negotiations are what led to the Iran-Contra scandal, and GHW (Daddy) Bush was up to his ears in that one.

Interesting place here. Are you living in Iran now?

Naj said...

Hi tomcat,

Unfortunately there are very few people who know of those dealings between the fathers of neoconservatism and Iran's dictators.

Ten years ago, when I mentioned this, I was laughed at and told "these are conspiracist interpretations of the history." It is only now that there is enough momentum in the public interest, to make "economic sense" for the publishers to commit these facts to print. Credit to internet!

No, I do not live in Iran.

Time has passed. I shudder to think of the revelations that come out about the Bush regime 20 years from now. I guess I have always been one to do my own digging rather than blindly accept what I see on broadcast news.

I shudder more that in spite of all Reagan has done, he is decorated as one of te BEST American presidents of all time!!!
