You know, I just visited Iran, and as I was watching this, I was thinking "that" is exactly how I would have made this film! Funny how he expressed the same feelings.
Even the cold sweat whe he was asked to pray behind the president ... yes those are facts, and yes the big-brother can be over-powering at times, but navigating life between the red-tapes in Iran, is very much like crossing the street or driving. It seems suicidal, but it is also exhilarating; makes you "feel" life in every possible sense.

This is an excellent piece that really does a great job of demystifying Iran for the Western public. Initiatives likes these can certainly bring about understanding and lay foundations for a more peaceful future.

It really then is a pity that some of the other blogs you link to are disgustingly anti-Semitic. It seems quite out of character.

I remain perplexed.

DEar Skye,

I am happy you liked the film as well. I really enjoyed it.

I am sorry you find my other links anti-semetic. Anti-semetism (or ANY form of racism, like Zionism) is in stark contrast to the value system that I uphold.

I stronly reject the notion that a group of people need a special acknowledgment because of their race, color of skin or gender.

I strongly believe that human community needs to correct many a wrongs that it has collectively done to the Africans, the Aboriginal people of the American continent, the Jews, and the Iraqis, lebanese and the Palestinians, the Sudanese, the Somalians, the rwandans, the Vietnamese, the Cambodians, the Japanese and many other.

If someday down the history, any nation in this world claims special rights and privileges for being a Muslim country, and invokes the Palestine argument to justify the special rights (out of balance with the responsibility) that it is claiming, I will speak about it too.

I am against apartheid be it in Saudi Arabia, or in Israel or in India or in Srilanka or anywhere else ...

If my finger is pointing to Israel at this moment, it is because Israel is lobbying for my country to be bombed. And I don't see any justification for that. Persians and Jews are amicably linked for thousands of years and I don't want neither Mullahs nor the Israeli government to scratch that. As long as they keep yelling at eachother like divorced couple, it's fine. But I don't want to see them physically abuse eachother. Neither has so far. I hope neither will ever.

Skye, one more thing, the blogs I link to are those that have inspired me with the level of their intelligence, information or fun writing. I think the most anti-zionist of those is by a well versed Jewish lawyer!

Hi N,
I just watched the documentary on another site. Excellent I thought. The taarouf thing is very well explained, and Benyamin is a heartbreaker...

Hi Sophia, good to see you. Yes the taarof is true; too bad I deleted my post on taarof!

Hi Hope, I look forward to your post.
