Karoubi demands from the IRI to prosecute him publicly

A new message from Karoubi has just been published.

In his message, he first apologizes to his neighbors for the harassment the IRI thugs have created; for having them and their families to hear profanities that are not even expected from the governmental thugs (I suspect sexual profanities and insults shouted towards him and his family members.)

Next, he addresses some of the conservatives, like Mohsen Rezayee, Mahdavi Kani (he is promised Hashemi's job), Hasan Rohani and Ghalibaf, who had been silent to date about all these events, but who joined the camp of death-seekers for Mousavi, Karoubi, Hashemi and Khatami. Karoubi states that he understands that their statements are based on pressure from above; he draws attention to similar statements made by Abtahi, one of his consultants who was arrested, tortured and forced to make a televised condemnation of Karoubi.

He states that he understand that there is a concerted effort to bring them to trial and is asking only one favor from the conservatives who have just now joined the camp of anti-Greeners:

To push the judiciary to try them in public. Just like Shah did when they prosecuted Golsorkhi, Bokharayee and Taleghani and others ...

Karoubi expresses cynicism, based on the conduct of the national broadcasters to be objective and fair, but he asks the press be allowed to witness and publish his defense, where he wishes to establish "who" exactly is attempting an over-throw of the regime.

Thanks Naj. I loved Karoubi's statement. He is so direct. Thanks for writing about it. I am so impressed that he brought up Golesorkhi:-)

ha! Rowhani was my favorite to run for president last year, long before the nominees were announced.

I loved Karoubi's statement.

My grandmother always says that it's "aghebat bekheyri" that's the most important part of life. I groan and grumble whenever she says it, but who would have ever thought Karoubi, "dozdeh bonyad shahid" as my friends used to call him, would be so "aghebat bekheyr", loved and respected by so many?

I know I didn't.

Yes; what I like about him is that he is admitting that

"this is our doing; and we either need to fix it or die trying to" and I don't think there can be any apology more meaningful that this.

naj, do you think M & K did the right thing calling for protests on the 1st of esfand? (If they did it together, I saw it on kalemeh). I'm kind of ambivalent, I'm not sure what to think. They need to walk a very fine line. People want to protest, but they also want to live their lives, even if that's a dichotomy. I spoke to my aunts (not the real kind ;) on skype today and they (pretty "green" folks ;) who went with the entire family for 25 Bahman) were a bit agitated.

And there will be enough time for the thugs to round up for the 1st and lock the entire city.

Maybe M & K feel that the majority of greens aren't feeling like my aunts and will show up? Or maybe like many of us "reformers" (or ex-reformers) they now know full well that there is no chance for compromise, so they want to call for protests whenever possible?

Either way, I'm kind of confused.

Ped,

First look at this this asshole has joined the choir too?!

Next, since they are under house arrest, and the communication is cut, this movement is headless. A group of radicalized youth are taking over; I think at this stage what M & K advise is irrelevant!

These kids will do what they want. And violence is no longer off limits. They have been cheated; out of their election, out of their martyrs and also out of the image of civilian when thugs posed as protesters only to beat them up!

so, since we are outside, we should just sit and pray for them to not die in mass ... ordinary people will not protest ... but too much emotion is unleashed ... brace yourself for the worst my dear.

Pen Name,

You have no relationship with me.

When I said love-hate relationship, the "hate" part if what I have for you!

But I want you to comment here because I like to see what is happening in the "other's" head!

Yes, so we know each other in this way. Count that as a relationship for where else do you get to know someone else's mind initimately?

From these drops, rivers form.
