Children of Hashemi Rafsanjani ask the Judiciary to audit their wealth to put an end to Ahmadinejad's insinuations about their corruption.

(Their letter needs major persian editing! It's full of run ons and etc; and a lot of times it is had to make sense of it for English speakers; but I translate it in full, unless specified, and color code the important parts of it.)

Honorabple head of the judiciary of the Islamic republic of Iran, ... [Greetings]
Respectfully, the start of your appointment at the helm of Iran's justice system and [your] emphasis on execution of the law has doubled our hope in progressing "judiciary system according to Islamic justice"; "safe guarding people's rights", and establishing "a just legal security for all" as stated in the Constitution--the blood price of thousands of martyrs of this revolution--and has encouraged us to bring our complaints to your attention via this letter, may our individual and social rights be reclaimed according to the judiciary duty stated in the 156th principle of the National Charter.

As you are aware, character assassination and defamation of the leaders of the revolution have been one of the weapons of Islamic Revolution's enemies in the past 30 years. Aiming to destroy the genuine models of the main goals of the revolution [they have] cast doubt on justness, diligence and dedicated service of executives who expect nothing in return, in order to discredit this unique movement and bring about the conditions of return to an era when powers can continue their exploitations without worrying about people's demand for justice.

Unfortunately, next to a few naive individuals, groups and parties with a certain internal political agenda have joined the enemy's chorus; and on a platform of rumors and insinuations that endanger the legal and moral bases of the revolution and the country, by taking advantage of public sentiments, have gained their intended power and positions.

Our honorable father, the selfless serving child of this movement and this people, Hashemi Rafsanjani, is someone who, because of his unique and unforgettable role in all levels of tis revolution in over half a century, has had the largest share of these immoral, illegal and unethical attacks. The key to enemy's failure and his survival, despite their animosity has to be sought in his eternal service during struggle [against Pahlavi], sacred defense [against Saddam] and reconstruction [post-war 2-term presidency]; and in Imam [Khomeini]'s words, who linked the life of this movement to Hashemi's life--a statement that was not made about anyone else with such assertion and such expression.

The purpose of this letter, however, is not to defend this pillar of revolution and the country, as God is his supporter [للبیت رب بحمیه?]. Enemy's last device, after they failed to tarnish the image of this man of service, and after they became aware of the ineffectiveness of their previous tactics, has been to spread rumors and lies about the children of Hashemi Rafsanjani since a while ago but increasingly in recent years.

We "Hashemi's", like the rest of the people of this country, can claim our rights. Although we declare that father's position has never provided us any facilities; and that no one deserves any advantage over another unless in purity of hard work for Islam, Revolution, country and the nation; but, since these rumors and accusations are used as a leverage to eliminate Hashemi from the scene; and since knowingly or unknowingly this water turn's enemy's mills, we insist on claiming our rights [from the judiciary system] and if [you can] not [help], we leave the matter to God's just and fierce might on the judgement day.

Ayatoolah Amoli Larijani,
It is clear that continuation of previous trend that a few individuals with a sense of immunity to legal challenge spread such rumors is neither in correpondance with shari'a, law and morals; nor is it in the interest of the country and our society; and it causes serious damage to the revolution and our country, because: [below I have shortened some paragraphs of their reasoning]

  • Defamations violate individual rights that are guaranteed under 2nd article of the Constitution; and deny individuals the right to defense as specified in the 34th article of the Constitution
  • Ignore the 37th article of the constitution according to which innocence is assumed unless guilt is proven [then remind the supreme judge of illegal behavior of certain ahmadinejadist factions]
  • With respect to opposition to order, morales, public rights and credibility of managerial and legal executives: breaking ethics by spreading rumors, lies, accusations, insult and public deception and ..., breaking the public trust by what they claim is whistle blowing, and mixing this with falsifications of the world media, which has no end, create hopelessness and indifference in people and make the country vulnerable to plots and increasing pressures from outsde, while giving the foreigners opportunity to claim proof of their 30-years old allegations; breaking the managerial structure of the country because then any one at any position will utilize any tool, be it lies or accusations, to climb the power ladder; implying that the country's high executives have been unable to rein in the rich and the corrupt, thus suggesting illegitimacy and ineffectiveness of the system; alluding to incapability of the justice system in addressing the crimes of such groups and thus implying absence of legal safetty; ignoring public rights and breaking the rules of Islamic shari'a; will be some of the outcomes of such trend
  • More importantly, damaging the ideological bases of the revolution and the system, by alluding to the ineffectiveness of the Islamic government; which based on Prophet and Saint's teachings, and under the responsibilities of the absolute "Vali-e Faghih", aims to establish an Islamic Utopia according to Islamic ideology, principles and rules; and hold the government accountable to "generate suitable environment for growth of moral deeds" [I really have difficulty editing their Persian!]

Ayatollah Amoli Larijani,

So far, several organizations such as the Ministry of Intelligence, The Organization of General Audit, and in one instance a special commission formed by consensus from high officials of the country, have examined these matters, but their results are unfortunately not announced to the public.

Despite having access to all documentations in the executive offices of the country in the past four years, the respectable[!] government has not provided any evidence in proof of any of their rumors.

In our view, this is why despite repeated and persistent requests from the victims of such defamations, expectations from the public and obligations from the legal system to refer these accusations to courts, these accusations have been just used to manipulate the public opinion.

Perhaps this is why recently, by publicizing the confessions of those accused in recent events--which even if were legal were pertinent only to those individuals--they are trying to fabricate evidence against one of the signatories of this letter.

On the other hand, unfortnately, the judiciary system has failed to address several complaints about violation of guaranteed individual rights under articles 34, 36, 61 and 156 of the Constitution.

We, Fatemeh, Mohsen, Fa'ezeh, Mehdi and Yasser Hashemi, with trust in God, first to claim our personal rights; next to have acted within principles of sharia to revived the public rights, guard the principle of law and moral values; and at last to request the judiciary officials to obey Ayatollah Khamenei's order, who on the Friday prayer of 29 Khordad 1388, exonerated the character of Mr Hashemi [their father] and emphasized that "people have to pay attention to the facts", and forbid allegations "before establishing proof in the judiciary system" which in his view "misguides the society and the youth's minds", and who ordered prosecution of the actors of such defamations.

We ask your honor, who are well educated in science and religion, who avoid to play in the hands of power at the expense of law and morales, who claim independence of the judiciary, who will "rot in hell if you choose power and earth over the law" [sorry this is what they mean in 4 lines of unpleasantries], to appoint a competent and independent referee with full authority, and immune to political games, to undertake investigation of these accusations and rumors and announce the results to the brave and intelligent people of Islamic Iran and to the respectable officials of the country; and to put an end to this illegal trend by applying justice. Although in execution of his legal duties, the head of the judiciary in 1376 clearly testified that the belongings of the President [Hashemi's presidency ended in 1376] and his family had diminished; and testified to the falsity of accusations, but the hands of conspiracy are still at work to in addition to ignoring that ruling, blame us for all of the corruptions of the past years that we have had no access to any power or public funds. They are repeating these accusations from public tribunes and media to smokescreen the investigation of the potential illegal activities of the [current] rulers. Worse, is that they unjustly claim that the "powerhouses" prevent them from investigation of these accusations!

We trust that your honor, who in the first hours of your appointment stated no tolerance for deviation from the law, will order your honest and just judges to fully examine all allegations and rumors, and to make announcing the results to us a priority.

At the end, we emphasize that with this request, we have made it clear that if today, those who have access to legal power do not seek justice for us, we will seek justice in God's just presence! [duuh!]

gratitude and etc ...

The Morning After! (press covers)

Major difference between the reformist versus deformist papers?
The reformist ones show actual massive crowds and the reformist leaders; but the conservative ones show people through illusionist lens (with lots of colors) and NO leaders in the crowd (e.g. no Ahmadinejad!)

Etemaad
Hayat-e Noe
Khorasan
Jomhoori-Eslaami
Etela'at
Keyhan
Sarmayeh

Where are the aerial photos of the "official news" agencies?

I am laughing my heart out looking at lens manipulation of Fars News' famous photo agency!! I think they are busy photoshopping green flags out of giant crowds:

here are some photos published by fars news until 7:39 Eastern time (Iran time ~ 4 Pm)

In protest to Western powers Ahmadinejad has said: "Western governments issue a UN Human Rights Resolution, even when a city-car goes over a cat's foot"!!!! (We used to be dust; now we are cats!)

And here are some pictures published by the "Greens" unofficial sites: (You can find a number of accumulating videos here)

Also, the "official" news agencies are saying that Khatami was confronted by angry protesters who didn't want his "hypocritical presence in this holy event!!!" Look at the smile on the Riot Police's face when he is greeting Khatami!

From a video of people greeting Karoubi when he arrives: people chant Karoubi Karoubi Hemayatat mikonim:

And a picture-proof of Mousavi, calm and certain, in the crowds! The man who is holding the baby seems to be protesting at something; but would someone be able to protest to Ahmadinejad like that, you think?

Compare the green crowds of this video to this pro-govenment ladies holding the palestinian flag (photo from AFP):

History Made! (will be updated during the day)

Updates:
In a live Radio interview with Ahmadinejad; chants of Ahmadi; Ahmadi Este'faa Este'fa (resign resign) are heard!.

The state media's spin: "People became angry with Khatami and Karoubi's presence and forced them away from the rally!!!

By the way, did you catch Ahmadinejad's interview with NBC when he said we have no problem with freedom of speech?!!

Karoubi-Karoubi-Hemayat-at Mikonim (Karoubi, we support you)

LOOK AT THIS: Cannon, Tank, Basiji; Are no longer effective!

They DID it!

Here (note this picture was old; I keep it to piss off some British spy who keeps chastising me about it ;) The new picture of attack was on NYT's front page), President Khatami was attacked by Ahmadinejadist thugs-but saved by greens and the riot police dispersed the thugs (also called Lebas-shakhsi; or (unfortunately) Basiji) [someone is claiming the above picture of khatami under attack is old; but the one below published by the parliament's news agency is new and fresh out of the oven!)

Natarseed! Natarseed! Ma Hameh Ba Ham Hasteem!

UPDATE: They did it; flooded the streets; overwhelmed the Arabic sounds played from governmental loud speakers with chants of: "Na Ghazeh; na Lobnaan ; Janam fadaye Iran" (Ni Gaza, Ni Liban; Ma vie, just pour Iran). Responded to "Down with Israel" with "Down with Russia". Saved President Khatami from Keyhanist thugs who attacked him and injured him. And followed Karoubi, from 7 Tir, through Karimkhan, to Vali-Asr square in waves of green--while Ahmadinejad made history by being the first president to NOT RALLY in Quds day! The so called champion of palestinian cause had to be transported to Tehran U--which is sealed off by black tents to mainstream the media coverage--in heavily armored car; wearing his over sized coat hiding his bullet vest; and circled with hordes of body guards ...

Ahmadinejad had said: "Liars are cowards; is this government a coward?"

I think he has answered his question himself!

Coward! Especially after Russia has made a little detour on him--hinting that well maybe sanctions can be useful! Some speculate that Russia's little detour has scared the government into backing off from "threatening" protesters today! In fact, it was the riot police who helped deterr the Basijis who had attacked Khatami! Today, is full of events!

Don't fear!
Don't fear!
We are all,
TOGETHER!

Hashemi kicked out of Friday Prayer!

The assholes are too scared! They kicked Hashemi out of his traditional Quds-day Friday Prayer agenda! Instead Ahmadinejad and a clown called Ahmad-Khatami will be conducting the Quds-day ceremonies!

As my brilliant friend says: " They directly tell everyone 'we know who you hate the most, so we'll use them on Quds Day to keep you away!!!"

Nevertheless

President Khatami has made a public call to reformists to participate in Quds Day rally--which marks resistance to tyranny exercised against Palestinians!

so has Khomeini's grandson

So has Mir Hossein Mousavi

So has Ayatoolah Sane'i

So has Mahdi Karoubi
We will not let them take away our country!

Fascism has no place in Iran!

And by signing up to give a speech, Ahmadinejad the fascist has given Iran a GREAT gift:
people can now flood the streets!

BEWARE OF WHAT THEIR MEDIA SELLS YOU AS

The much anticipated sale of century in Iran: privatization of 50% of Iran's communication organization: CANCELLED!!!

This is bizarre! Everyone was bracing for IRGC to purchase that!!

No reason was offered!!!

Notable: on Sunday, Tehran's stock marked was closed; unprecedentedly!!

Please see my older post for economic "oddities" of these past few days!!

Why are Montazeri's grandchildren arrested?

Caption: In November 1986 [10 Aban, 1365?], when Khamenei (now the supreme leader) was the Imam of Friday Prayer, he said: "continuation and strength of Juriprudence is summarized in the soul of the Grand Ayatollah Montazeri". (Picture source)

[For your information, Ayatollah Montazeri is a key theoretician of Islamic governance under Velayat-e Faghih--as practiced in Iran since 1979 revolution.]

His three grandchildren were arrested! (Actually, it seems more of the children of the reformist Quom clergy are arrested!)

This is an excerpt of why Ahmadinejad's truning the heat on the Quom [Iran's Vatican!] Establishment. Montazeri's making an unmistakable call to "Jihad" against the Coup d'etat forces:

The honorable religious leaders are well aware that throughout history, they have been the shelter and the refuge of the people from the tyranny and the injustice of the rulers; and have been privileged to stand next to the people and defend their rights against the ruthless despots; and have suffered and paid a price for this stance--may God reward them the best of Islam [? it's Arabic.]

Of course, unfortunately this brilliant reputation was damaged after the Islamic Revolution, when in the face of several inappropriate actions, the religious leaders failed in their duty of "amr-e be ma'roof & Nahy-e Az monkar" [ordering to goodness and forbidding illegitimacy; is one of the principles of Islamic practice]. Although perhaps the clergy was not responsible, but a shift in morals and actions, with the theory of "the end justifies the means" put the religious establishment on a slippery slope that distanced it from initial goals of the revolution and endangered its position so much so that today, the spiritual position of clergy and the traditional bases of Islam and religion are compromised--perhaps even irreparably! The close ties between the clerical establishment and religion has made Islam vulnerable to people's approval of the clergy's stances. In this situation, the responsibility of religious leaders becomes more prominent because not only are they responsible for performing their religious duties, but they are also responsible for saving the reputation of religion and cleansing its image from the atrocities that take place in the name of religion. [some short technical religious resoning for mullahs, then:] The criminal events that took place in front of the religious leader's eyes, after the presidential election, is a warning bell for clergy. In these events, much atrocity and injustice was done in the name of religion and with the backing of a small minority of the dependent [read financially] clerical community. After that, with the right to peaceful protest, guaranteed under the 27th clause of the Constitution, people took to streets to express their discontent to the government. Instead of addressing people's concerns in a logical and constructive way, the government called them foreigner vandals and thugs; and assaulted the men and the women with utmost violence; threw them in jails and martyred several of them on streets or in infamous prisons.

Interestingly, it was the government who raised arms on the defenseless and innocent people, jailed and killed them, but called them
the enemy! They [the government] created the crisis but called people the instigators of chaos!

Simultaneously, they began arresting some of the political elite of the country who had a resume of valuable service to Iran and the revolution, putting them on illegitimate and illegal trials and forcing them to fake confessions, making these sham trials the laughing stock of the world, discrediting the Islamic justice; and instead of prosecuting the commanders and perpetrators of crimes--and sufficing to promise their prosecution; just like they promised prosecution of the chain murders-- they arrested people's servants and put pressure on dear Mr Mousavi and Karoubi--may God keep them safe and successful--, closed teir offices and their newspapers and arrested their co-thinkers and associates, accusing well intending servants in state-dependent media, even spreading lies and rumors from the holy tribune of Friday prayer, further alienating people and tarnishing their belief in clergy in religious leadership and in dear Islam.
[...]
The respectable religious leaders are well aware of their influence on the rulers; and know that at least in appearance and for now, the government needs them to justify its legitimacy. They also know that he government takes advantage of their silence to its own interest. Then, is it justified to adopt silence on important matters on which the credit and value of religion depends, such as claiming the rights of the people and safeguarding the faith of large numbers of youth that the government; and to give an impression that in the silence they are complicit in wrongdoings to a sample of which I pointed
?

In persian we say: water's fallen in ants' nest!

The news updates are popping like bubbles:
  1. Grand children of Ayatolah Montazeri are arrested!
  2. Karoubi and Ali Larijani (the speaker of parliament) had a meeting behind closed doors and agreed to not reveal the content of discussions. However, it seems Larijani met Karoubi on behalf of Khamenei asking for his silence--to which Karoubi has responded that he prefers death to remaining silent in the face of the atrocities of this group of new-comers intent on tarnishing Revolution's legacy.
  3. Remember I said the high commission for national security had issued a ban on publication of any NEWS about Karoubi and Mousavi? Well the picture below is a snapshot of Keyhan (the talibanist news paper of Iran) with a giant headline: Karoubi's claims are falsehoods!
Of course the press is officially FORBIDDEN to publish any news about Karoubi and Mousavi! But there are other disturbing facts that press can still write about. Here are some headlines:

  1. Unemployment, a major fire under the ashes: in 2005, Ahmadinejad's budget passed on the promise of creating between 700-800,000 new jobs. At the end of his term, Ahmadinejad had added 300,000 to the unemployed list. His legacy, 14% unemployment--and this is the official number, real numbers are always more grave! Ahmadinejad's idea was to create employment by giving loans for quick-return business setups! This did not lead to creation of any new entrepreneurs, but hiked the inflation to "official" rate of 25% as was announced by Iran's central bank)
  2. Uncontrolled importations pose a major threat to Iran's economy. This threat is facilitated by Ahmadinejad's government providing cheap dollar-Rial exchange rates to the import-mafia (under Revolutionary guard's control).
  3. Ahmadinejad's contract with Hugo Chavez costs Iranians 70c/Liter! This is 50% more than the price of gas available to Iran in other markets! (This is how Ahmadinejad keeps his "friends" happy, expensing from people's pocket!)
  4. Speaking of people's pocket, Ahmadinejad has removed yet another obstacle to his illegal withdrawal from oil income (i.e. spending oil income and national reserves without having listed the expenses in the budget that requires a parliament vote.) Additionally, the national reserve fund is shoved under the security (read military-defense) umbrella!

Important update: Karoubi strikes back and Hashemi neutralizes efforts to marginalize his presence in Quds-day Friday Prayer!

Ahmadinejadist dogs have been trying to push Hashemi off the agenda of this coming Friday's Quds Rally. Traditionally, the last Friday of Ramadan is marked by a rally in support of Palestine cause. This year, the Iranians have been promising to have the Iranian regime's apartheid receive as much coverage as does the Israeli one. This has made the coup d'etat operators so nervous that

1) they pushed Khamenei to "threaten" people to bloodshed should they "divert" attention from Palestine to internal mess Iran is burning in.

2) they (especially Raja News, which is Ahmadinejad's news agency) started spreading rumor that Hashemi was NOT giving the Friday Prayer sermon because the atmosphere was inflamed and that that high commission of national security had decided Hashemi's presence was NOT in the interest of the nation!

Well, Hashemi JUST issued a statement INVITING people to the Quds rally; emphasizing the palestinian cause but also subtly telling the coup forces to back off!

" For 30 years, the honest, freeminded and justice seekers of the world rally the streets (on Imam's ingenuous initiation on the last Friday of Ramadan) to condemn the illegal occupation of Palestine under an illegitimate, fake and intrusive regime; and shout their dissent from the international totalitarianism of a small minority. We have witnessed how this meaningful presence trembles the spider webs of tyranny and colonialism and resurrects the spirit of resistance in the bruised body of this holy Islamic site.

Muslims of Iran and the world: This year we mark this important day amidst the world-power's conspiracy to take advantage of divisions and negligences amongst Muslims, especially the internal conflicts within Palestinians themselves. With divisive plans, fueling the sectarian differences, diverting from commonalities, these (world powers) are finding themselves on the brink of realization of their illegitimate imperialist and colonial goals.

God forbid if we help our enemy's desire to obliviate the first icon of Islam, Quds, by forgetting our revolution's guru (i.e. Imam Khomeini) who called this Quds day the day of the awakening of Islam.

God willing, your courageous presence in the Quds day rallies in Iran and across the globe, in villages and in the cities of dear Iran would be an eternal awakening call to the disillusioned ones who think that the passage of time has dust coated the cause of Palestine; and you too be sure that the brightest day arrives after the darkest night."
This is GREAT; because it neutralizes Khamenei's threats and Ahmadinejad's plots to push Hashemi into a corner! It is, as usual a double edged sword, with very subtle but also unmistakable hints to Ahmadinejad that "he has had enough of this childish game!". (I have just noticed that Hashemi's web site has published two of his articles entitled: Islamic Liberalism and Intellectualism and Historical critic: an analytical examination of dangerous interactions of civilization and Islamic rule in shiite history. [please help me if you have a better translation for this title.]. Clearly, Hashemi is not to be sidelined!

Karoubi ALSO is standing his ground. Yesterday, the representatives of judiciary published a statement, calling Karoubi a liar and claiming that his evidence were not sufficient to prove rape and torture had taken place in the Iranian prisons. Subsequently, they had asked for legal prosecution of Karoubi!

Today Karoubi has written an ANGRY and graphic letter to Sadegh Larijani and the Iranian people; calling his representatives liars; and asking: "did you expect me to present the 'organ' that was used to rape; or did you want me to pass a thread to prove the rape had taken place?" [in shiite rule, you cannot accuse people of sexual infidelity unless you pass a rope between individuals to prove intercourse is taking place! It's one of those things that give shiism its charm!!!]

Opponents of Karoubi seem to be backing off as well, since Ali Larijani has just held a secret meeting with Karoubi in presence of a reformist member of the parliament. Rumor has it that they are asking for Karoubi's silence!

This nightmare is just getting worse

Yesterday, Khamenei called for more blood! To dismay and disgust of many a shiite he likened himself to Imam Ali and came up with all sorts of solutions about how important it is for him and his croneys to "defend" themselves by killing the opposition.

A few hours ago; a rumor started in RAJA news (Ahmadinejad's news site) that Hashemi Rafsanjani will not be leading the Friday prayer sermon this Friday (Also Quds day, the last Friday of Ramadan. On this day, Iranians rally in support of Palestine.). This "news" however, was quickly rebutted by Hashemi's office.

Then, the three representatives of the head of Judiciary issued a statement that Karoubi's evidence are all false; that he has no proof of rape and torture and that he (Karoubi) shoudl be prosecuted.

Only a few minutes ago, a memo was issued by the High Commission of National Security banning all news channels from publishing ANY news about Mousavi, Karoubi and the election!

Notably, Imam Khomeini's research and publishing center has launched a public complaint about falsification of Khamenei's mouthpiece, Keyhan News paper for accusing "foreign enemies" having infiltrated the establishment of the founder of revolution!!

As Mousavi had predicted; and Karoubi had provisioned, the coup d'etat is entering a new phase; which promises to be EVEN more bloody!

Ladies and gentleman; you are witnessing fascism unfold and if you are a dweller of western hemisphere, your leaders are extending a hand to negotiate with these criminals! You may now sit back and ponder for the first time, perhaps, about YOUR righteous country's role in bringing about Hitler some 70 years ago.

Chess Game!

Here is an excellent article by Muhammad Sahimi; summarizing the dynamics of how things are moving in Iran.

[...] here is where the author believes the Islamic Republic is headed: A situation in which the fissures at the top become even deeper, as the hardliners’ circle of ‘insiders’ become increasingly smaller, while at the same time, the anger and frustration of the people rapidly grows.

Unless the hardliners somehow decide to retreat and undertake deep and lasting reforms, the nation is moving toward a confrontation between the unarmed, but determined majority of the people, and the highly armed small minority that the hardliners represent.

It is frightening to even imagine what the result of such a confrontation might be. At a minimum, it would mean incredible bloodshed. But the most frightening possibility would be the disintegration of the country, given the composition of Iran’s diverse population.

In a letter to the head of judiciary Karoubi exposes more of IRGC's atrocity: Ordering the hospitals to not document the torture evidence!

The coup d'etat forces have been trying to pressure Karoubi into silence. In a letter he just wrote to Sadegh Larijani; he is exposing again how the regime has been trying to extract and destroy all evidence he has gathered of rape and torture.

For the past two weeks, Karoubi was silent as he was cooperating with a "truth finding committee" that was appointed by the new head of judiciary, Sadegh Larijani. This committee was resided by Mohseni Ejei (the previous minister of intelligence, who was sacked by Ahmadinejad after the election mayhem), Raisi (first deputy of the head of judiciary) and Khalafi (consultant of judiciary). However, following Karoubi's Monday meeting with these individuals; after discussing the evidence, these individuals have tried to persuade Karoubi to destroy them "so they won't fall in enemy's hand!". In his letter he reports:

[Ramadan-related greetings]
As you are aware, in the painful and worrisome aftermath of the doubtful presidential election, I have written numerous letters to different officials to inform them of some of the issues, critics and complaints in order to have given them necessary warnings. The last of these letters is addressed to you, who have recently accepted this position to reside on the chair of the supreme judge. Here, I present details of my discussions with your appointed representatives, and some of the peripheral issues that have led to sealed closure of my personal and party offices, in order to have acted within my national and religious responsibilities. May the future generations not think that Mahdi Karoubi succumbed to pressure and intimidation and acted in complicity, hiding in his house, shutting up his justice-seeking voice. If you do not know, others know that in Karoubi's resume, not only pressure, intimidation, limitation and imprisonment have not distracted him from the path of his convictions, rather have strengthened his resolve.
Mr Lariijani,
I don't know how aware you are of the details of our meetings with your appointed committee. For your information and people's information I state that we had two productive meetings with respectable misters Khalafi, Mohseni-Ejehi, and Raisi where I presented to them a small part of the evidence that proved the harrowing and unforgivable actions of post-election events. In the first meeting, evidence pertinent to three individuals, together with a CD and necessary documents of rape and torture in unknown detention centers were presented. Besides these evidence, I also orally discussed the issue of "real" Taraneh Mousavi and Saideh PourAghai [two girls who were raped, and died and their bodies were burned to conceal the crime] . The second meeting was held on Monday, lasted about three hours and I presented a new evidence on the condition of guaranteed immunity and safety of the individual and the family from the troubles that officials created for my previous witness. Here I emphasizes that these evidence should be handled with due diligence and not suffer the fate that was marked by the previous Tehran prosecutor (Mortazavi), who had unleashed mediators that instead of seeking justice for that individual had engaged in humiliation and intimidation of that person and his family, discrediting the country's judiciary process. I have to mention that in these meetings that were aimed at "truth finding" I was asked whether I thought continuing to gather such evidence was a wise idea and whether I was afraid of them falling in enemy's hand. [!!! Karoubi's subtly hinting that the fact-finder committee is more interested in fact-concealment!] And I assured them that I am keeping the evidence in a safe location; and that I intend to destroy them after I have sought justice for the victims of such events. I emphasized that evidence of rape and torture is not a placard of honor for me to hang on the wall or keep in my vault. But that these are the documents of injustice done to individuals; that are better be destroyed after justice is done may the stench of injustice will also disappear. [and this is the crux of all problems with Iran, destroying history of the wrong-doings and slipping them under the rug!] [... I am cutting out some defensive ramblings here that border on edge of Mullahish prudence] Anyways, I proposed to the committee that we would stop this evidence exposure if they take over the task of finding the truth and prosecuting the evil that was apparent even from the fraction of already exposed evidence.

Mr Larijani,

After this proposal our meeting with the committee ended well. But tomorrow, the page turned! A group attacked my office with prosecutor's order. They searched the office, and did not stop at searching the office but also searched and took away all my personal belongings including notes, personal letters, checks and etc. At the end, they sealed my office, and did not even consider [letting me take] the food I had stocked up to feed the poor [this is a common thing in Ramadan, to give away food to the poor]. Then they arrested the editor of Etemad Meli's website. The sealing of my office had not ended that I heard the headquarters of the party were also searched; the documents and equipments of our registered party were confiscated against the country's law regarding political parties, and that office was sealed too. They didn't stop at that and also arrested Dr Alireza Beheshti, the son of Shahid Ayatollah Beheshti, and Mr Alviri despite his brilliant Revolutionary background, serving in the parliament, mayor of Tehran, ambassador to Europe. They didn't stop there either, and also sealed the office of Publication of the works of Ayatollah Beheshti's, who is one of the founders of the Islamic Republic. I wonder if all these bizarre events stem from my meeting with your appointed committee on Monday? I am surprised that they think Mahdi Karoubi is going to be intimidated with these tactics and back off. I now realize why my friends insisted that I digitize the evidence of the rapes and tortures and keep a copy of that in addition to the one I presented to the judiciary; as the fear mongering machinary seems to be still in action to coerce individuals to deny their own accounts; as it seems that even Karoubi's home is not safe anymore and the Islamic republic has reached a point where any hideous act seems possible.

Mr Larijani,
I insist on demands I presented in my first letter to the head of the expediency council. Why not tell you that after this campain of intimidation, I am now even more resolved. When I see the head of a military organization-for which I have necessary evidence-orders the ministry of health and medicine that giving a copy of the medical documents to victims of recent events are forbidden, and hospitals refuse to give these evidence to those who are injured and raped, then I become more and more persistent to find out what is the source of all these threats and fears? Doctors are under oath to cure patients, even if they are their father's enemy. You, in position of the supreme justice, judge how a physician can practice his duties under clouds of threat from such a powerful military organization [i.e. IRGC]. If an innocent victim is killed, how can you hear about it? If someone is raped, in this atmosphere of terror, how can the victim obtain the medical evidence to present to you? Before, we used to wonder why the military is meddling in politics and economy. Now we see that the military's hunger is not satisfied with economy and politics and now they are after medicine as well.

Mr Larijani,
I imagine you claim justice and I am sure you are aware of your duties regarding seeking justice for the victims. Therefor I ask you to order follow up on the evidence that is already presented to clarify the public opinion and to have accomplished your religious and legal duties. And in doing so,
prevent this atmosphere of intimidation and complicity, and do not allow the military and para-military forces that have dominated the economy, politics and medicine to also think of meddling in judiciary, adding another summit to their post-election conquer and mess things up further than they already have. I also recommend that, in this atmosphere that independent media is banned-- thanks to previous Tehran prosecutor, you do not allow certain media--that claim themselves defenders of Islam and in our opinion are offenders of Islam, to operate in a safe bubble, slandering prominent figures of the Revolution. Also, do not allow lying and forging evidence become so popular that the state media produce, broadcast and rerun false scenarios of the fake Taraneh Mousavi [Ahmadinejad claims Taraneh Mousavi has not been killed and has found some Taraneh Mousavi in Canada to prove she is alive!!! Taraneh and Mousavi are both popular names in Iran] to divert attention from truth, and create new illusions and problems that will not be easily fixed.

Mr Larijani,
You have formed a committee to address the unfortunate events that occurred after election and Mr Khalafi, as your representative quoted you that these complaints should be addressed to the end. My question is, do you think addressing these issues will be possible under this post-election atmosphere of assault and intimidation? This question begs and answer from you. But, be aware that Mahdi Karoubi insists on seeking justice for the victims, may he show that these intimidation tools do not work on him and that he is standing steady and strong, and is not allowing a few new-arrivals auction off the assets of this system, Imam [Khomeini] and a country that is the fruit of a people's revolution and many martyr's blood.

We are all suspecting that Ahmadinejad's sharpening his teeth to tear Karoubi apart; and that Karoubi's written this letter as he expects his arrest ... the filthy dog of the parliament, Bahonar, has asked for his head too ... Iran WILL revolt if ...

"Economic" headlines that Ahmadinejad wishes to distract from by promising NEW mayhem

These headlines are picked randomly:

Ham Mihan News: TV program "Direct, village" falsifies the real picture of Iran's agriculture.
"Last week, the agricultural reporter of the paper was deployed to investigate the situation of rice farmers in North of Iran, and in interviewing the farmers, he accidentally learned that even the farmers are unhappy about this show and demand a real projection of their actual problems in national medial [i.e. seda o seema, which is Ahmadinejad's mouthpiece. This is a HARROWING account of agricultural and environmental DISASTERS brought about not by nature but Ahmadinejad's administration!!]"

Sarmayeh: Poverty line in Tehran: 900$/month! [a pensioners allowance, or an MD's salary while working in a hospital<900$]

Sarmayeh: (before the election) Unknown individuals unloaded 80 tons of potato in varamin and khyrabad streets and told people to take them if they wanted. [apparently, the government is using people's money (i.e. oil income) to buy these potatos from farmers who have a production surplus and distributes them for free in poor neighborhoods! what's wrong with this picture? 1) no parliamentary approval; 2)farmers report that the government is not facilitating exportation of the surplus potatos; thus forcing farmers to sell to the government at low price.]

Sarmayeh: proposal for a governmental corporation to buy delayed bank loans! [this is frightening: this unspecified governmental agency seems to be leaning on creating a mafia that coerces the loan holders to paying back; in exchange for a percentage of loan as profit.]

Donya-ye Eghtesad: Who are the bidders of the biggest sale in Iran's history (8.7 billion dollars sale of Iran's national communication corp) [They all seem to be sub-corporations of the IRGC (revolutionary guard)].

Etemad Melli: Iran Khodro's [automaker] 123 billion dollars loss.

Hamsahri: Iran's auto export: a failed dream. [instead of setting up sales offices in promising markets for Iran's cars, Iranian automakers wasted their assets and inertia in setting up production lines in some Eastern European countries; neglecting numerous exportation opportunities.]

Alef: Third wave of economic recession is under way.

E'temad: According to world bank, Iran drops in economic rank!

Ettela'at 51% drop in value of oil exports.

Etemad: 5 high-profile members of parliament have issued a warning to Ahmadinejad to not further violate the budget rules by subsidizing fuel. [concerns have been growing that Chavez' visit to Iran has been linked to risk of fuel sanctions and that Ahmadienjad and Chavez have made obscure deals for Chavez to sell Iran expensive fuel and Iran subsidize the costs to keep consumer's mouths shut!]

NOTE: As I am doing this post, I am noticing an INCREASING threatening mood directed at Karoubi! The relation between these crackdowns and the depressive economic MESS Ahmadinejad has plunged the country in should not be underrated. Ahmadinejad and Khamenei need distraction and chaos so that they can blame these unfixable problems on the "opponents" who "allegedly" are creating chaos.

I will complete this economic list later. Friday seems to be turning into a dangerous turning point. Khamenei is going to give Friday Prayer's sermon this week and everyone is bracing for another outburst of this blood thirsty fool! (there goes my vacation :) )

People are mobilizing to counter this threat; preparing to die again. New chain of arrests is underway. Change in the judiciary has changed NOTHING! They are determined to destroy all evidence of torture and human rights abuse! They are closing down and sealing many of revolution archive centers; offices of the pillars of the Islamic Revolution. Yesterday, Abdolkarim Soroush, one of the most prominent Islamic philosophers of Revolution has written an open letter to Khamenei; calling him a decadent tyrant; professing his demise; and repenting for ANY assistance he has ever provided to the establishment of this tyrannical system to which Khamenei is clinging as the last breath of life ...

A translation of Mashayee's views (Ahmadinejad's best man)

We did a revolution in 1979 to export the Islamic revolution. But I tell you here, the era of Islamism is finished.

And there is more recent talks when Mashayee Ahmadinejad’s Chief of Staff spoke at the ceremony introducing the new minister of science, attended by public and academic figures. (Source, Facebook's green translation team )

Excerpts of his speech were originally published by state-sponsored Mehr News.

According the Mehr News reporter, on Tuesday night at the ceremony in Shahid Beheshti university held in honor of departing of Mohammad Mehdi Zahedi, Minister of Science and Higher Education in the ninth administration, and introducing the new minister of science, Kamran Daneshjoo, Esfandiar Rahim-Mashaii [Mashayee] pointed out that science is made of light:
“I don’t want to be philosophical; I am telling this from the heart. God didn’t create man because he owed him, apparently God owed this to himself [the creation of human being].He wanted to be recognized; he had to create somebody who was able to recognize him. The importance of man is because of the science and the knowledge, if you take away the science then you take away the human being and if you take away human being, you take away God himself.” [yeah this sounds very philosophical and plausible, if you are a mystic, but wait, more is coming!]
In other part of his speech, President’s advisor emphasized on science and said:
“Imam Mehdi [the hidden imam] is not a prophet that can be expected to do miracles. We all agree on that! But, if somebody comes along to fulfill his [imam’s] historical duty that is already thousand and hundreds years old, won’t people ask him for a proof or evidence? Most definitely they will. I was thinking that if Imam, returns today, tomorrow, after 10 years or after 100 years, would people ask him for a proof or evidence? I doubt that they won’t [and take his word for it], but what is that proof? I thought about it and came to this conclusion that if people ask him for a proof it will be science.” [When you read this you have to be SURE that this is a pretext to declare Ahmadinejad or himself as Imam Zaman!! Mark my word, wait and watch!]

He proceeded by saying “people will demand science from him as a proof of his authenticity and to make sure his claim is genuine. Science is defined by 27 credits. [What the hell??!?!] Two credits remain till his time. Every mathematician knows that the equation of science growth is not linear and whatever there is in science is from the recent time, this means that he has to only introduce one unit of science and that one unit is incomparable to any science during the entire human history."

Also, regarding the change in the Ministry of Science Mashayee said:“It might look like a change but this is nothing but enforcement in power and resources. Dr. Zahedi [outgoing minister who met with his Israeli counterpart (see this)] and Dr. Daneshjoo [upcoming minister who faked a UK-issued PhD degree] have the same ideas, thoughts, beliefs and goals, who are on the same race track and are continuing the race with new force and in high speed.”

Iran's green filmmakers on red carpet

Shirin Neshat, 66th Venice Film Festival (Sept 9)

Jafar Panahi, 33rd International Montreal Film Festival

Mousavi's 12th statement: Resist Ahmadinejad's provocative manipulations!

Warns that the Coup d'etat forces are in full swing to take the events into a higher and more dangerous gear and CAUTIONS:

آرامش و هوشياري خود را حفظ كنيد. سلسله حوادث جديدي كه آغاز شده است به مانند ديگر تحركات كور اين ايام براي مخالفان شما جز خسارت باقي نخواهد گذاشت. مراقب باشيد كه آنها شما را تحريك نكنند و به هنگام نابود كردن خود به كاشانه و كشورتان لطمه نزنند."

Keep your calm! This new chain of events [arresting two very high profile individuals], like previous senseless provocations will bear nothing but loss for your opponents. BE CAREFUL to not be provoked, and to not harm you and your country when they self-destroy

Ahmadinejad's fascist striptease continues

Coup d'etat is entering new phase:
  • The offices of fact-finding committees (the committee of defending the prisoner's right; and the office of Karoubi's party where evidence of prison rapes were being gathered) have been raided and plumbed; all evidence and documents gathered over the past few months removed and the heads of these committees were arrested today or yesterday. The two most high profile arrests are of Morteza Alviri and Alireza Beheshti.
  • Individuals associated with reformist movement are prevented from leaving the country.
  • Journalists who had signed a statement condemning recent crackdowns are summoned to courts.
  • The last of the reformist news papers are given warning to "stop spreading facts".
  • Members of parliament have sent Ahmadinejad a written warning to "stop wasting country's assets and breaking the law--i.e. ignoring parliamentary vote--regarding importing gas from Venezuela!"
  • Rumors are circulating that Mousavi and Karoubi are on the list of next arrests, to nip the wings of "chaos" as Mr Ahmaghinejad calls the MESS he has made of the country!

Guns and Roses!

I am on vacation; am planning to replenish my soul with a good dose of family and film and fun; and today I saw a couple of nice things happening in Iran:

The reformists are firing back in unison!

I am P L E A S E D

that Khatami has said: "Those who are pretending to fight reformists on charges of Western Liberalism, are employing all the tools of fascism and totalitarianism that themselves root in Western culture"!

that Mousavi has stressed what is happening now has unleashed unimaginable potentials that go beyond the issue of electing one person or the other, advancing Iran's century long journey to Democracy!

that more and more insiders are coming out threatening to expose the pasts and present of the corrupt religious and military bases on which Ahmadinejad is wobbling!

that the parliament members (while kissing Khamenei's ass) are also exposing how he has tried to meddle in the parliament vote of confidence to Ahmadinejad's cabinet!

that suggestions are made that the commander of teh revolutionary guard should be sued for throwing treason accusations at previous president, for meddling in politics which is none of their business, and for threatening the "system" more than all those imagined velvet traitors could ever have!

Ahmadinejad Versus Khomeini

For the first time, since Imam Khomeini's passing, special Ramadan ceremonies in his mausoleum are CANCELLED! This ceremony was hosted by Khomeni's grandchildren, who have not spoken publicly against Ahmadinejad, but have shunned him in every possible other way: including not attending his inauguration, not receiving him in his first presidential visit to mausoleum, not congratulating him and etc.

On other note, today the names and details of the killing of 72 individuals killed in the post-election aftermath was released by NoRooz! This is a strike back at discrepancies propagated by various Revolutionary Guard commanders!

I feel totally numb! This is a nightmare that we feared, but didn't imagine would ever realize. This nightmare, I used to dismiss as paranoia ... it is now happening ... it is a frightening landscape ... I am numb, I am confused, and I cannot see any light at any foreseeable future. I don't even know what I should do anymore! I feel like a dear chased down by a pack of hyenas. I wish someone told me things are not as bleak as I feel them now. I wish someone told me there is hope. I wish to kick myself out of this depression. The truth is, the revolutionary guard holds all the arteries of Iran now: financial, military, political ... even clergy cannot stand up to them any more ... people are not as faithful as they were when Khomeni led them ... people don't give a damn about religion any more ... we are traversing through FASCISM, getting farther from religious rule, areligious fascism is much harder to get rid of than religious one ... I am beginning to realize the pain of those who went on exile 30 years ago. I am beginning to realize what it means to never be able to go back "home". And Obama's letter to Khamenei is just salt on all this injury. Obama makes me puke!

Wo! "Men Under Veil": IRI gets its first female minister (of health)

The other two women fail parliament's vote of confidence! I wrote on Dastgerdi, minister of health, before.

Also, minister of Energy fails to secure votes!

All other ministers are EQUALLY disastrous ... I cannot believe they vetted a man who lied about his PhD!!!!! Or a military man for one of the most political posts in the cabinet ...

C-R-A-P (more later, I hope!)

Frontpage of a conservative newspaper!

Top half headlines: anything but news!
Bottom half: RADO watches & vacation packages!

Iranian Democracy dips to a new low: Khamenei and the guards are pressuring the parliament to give the cabinet vote of confidence.

Insinuation suggest that Khamenei has ordered the parliament to give a vote of confidence to Ahmadinejad's proposed cabinet, in order to make his government look strong!

In the past three days, members of parliament have been raising serious criticism of the inadequacy, inexperience and political motivations behind selection of unknown, infamous or incompetent ministers!

Most notorious are the proposed Interior Minister (in picture, a revolutionary guard commander, who should have quit military before nomination for civil duties), the Minister of Science and Education (the campaign manager of Ahmadinejad, with dubious credentials and accused of faking a PhD degree), the ministers of education, health and welfare (whose only qualification seems to be two x-chromosomes; and one with a legal charge over her head).

Of course, these ministers and their president have been busy lobbying the parliament, sending them gift boxes, throwing lavish dinner parties, and allocating construction money to their ridings--a move that has raised the objection of the opposition parties, making them bring these "petty" approaches to attention of the house speaker, Ali Larijani.

Suddenly, however, Ali Larijani's mood has changed. He who has been the arch nemesis of Ahmadinejad since he resigned from the position of nuclear negotiator, and whose brother has just taken over the judiciary, seems to have a heart change! He is no longer acting as fairly or critically as he did in the previous vetting sessions, as expected from his job, and he seems more intent on wise-cracking and joking than moderating the objections raised by different parties.

Although Khamenei has not given any written or oral instructions yet (he is yet not THAT stupid, although I am sure that must be forthcoming!), the nominated ministers have been eager to invoke the "we have the supreme leader's blessing" line; which has raised complaints from parliament members who think dropping supreme leader's name is to mask their inability to express their suitability for the job! One conservative member of the parliament has said unless he hears or sees Khamenei's orders in writing, he is not bound to obey! In response to this gentleman, the nominee has said: "there is no need for written orders, we run on his hints!"

Unfortunately, Larijani seems to have suggested that the wishes of the supreme leader are to give this government a pass ... still three more ministers are to defend: ministers of Oil, Housing and Energy ... But, hopes are dimming and some of the members of the parliament are raising objection that if the final verdict is to come from supreme leader, then why should they be wasting their time on evaluation of the proposed cabinet's portfolio!

"Velayat-e Faghih" is launching a frontal attack on the republic ... we are back to OPEN oligarchy ... If this depresses you, watch the art posts I made before this!

By the way, the OFFICIAL number of dead has now reached 72 ...

Iran's foreign-relation delusions; Sept 1st 2009.

Old, and proposed for new term Foreign Minister Mottaki:
Iran's policies and foreign relations put the last word on international matters!
Iran's high commissioner of national security, Jalili:
After a magnificent presidential election, backed by power, logic and a strengthened presidency, we are not prepared to present a new package.

This is while ISNA reported that France and Germany have threatened tougher economic sanctions!!

Of course, Ghasghavi, the speaker of the foreign ministry dismissed the sanctions and fired back at France and Germany by criticizing their abuse of citizen's and minority's right and said:
"Today, in France, they don't let a citizen even criticize the president; how can these people teach others human rights?"

Ahmadinejad dismisses 40 Iranian ambassadors on charges of sympathizing with Greens!

According to Fars News (agency linked to Revolutionary Guards; and referred to as False News, by Iranians) reports simultaneous dismissal for 40 IRI ambassadors, as the first step in what Ahmadinejad calls: "Fundamental corrections in Foreign Ministry". Ahmadinejad's team accuses these ambassadors of supporting the dissidents, claiming that some of them have openly sided with protesters abroad. Fars News emphasizes that these individuals will be replaced with "Specialists devoted to the bases of revolution"! Ahmadinejad's team has plans to dismiss 80 ambassadors, but the other 40 will be retired from service (and not fired) in the course of next months. (source)
