This blog is about fairness; about looking at objects from multiple perspectives. Stable transformation comes only slowly; and only if the environment is free of sporadic jitters of passion and anger that destabilize growth. I strongly believe that the path to peace crosses through the battle with self.

See the role of US in the plane crash that killed 168 passengers today.
It seems like economic sanctions never harm the government of the country they are aimed at. Cuba is a good example, as was Iraq under Saddam. The dictators always seem able to strengthen their hold on power. The only people who are helped by sanctions are American politicians who can appear tough to their constituents.
If only America had opened up to Iran after 9/11 when Khatami extended a hand of condolence and friendship. In the 1970's America opened up to China. At that time China had an abysmal human rights record that was much worse than Cuba, in my opinion. Today, human rights are still a problem in China, but not nearly as bad as 30 years ago. I think that when people become educated and economically empowered, democracy is more likely to happen.
Thus spake the schizophrenic and fundamentalist in chief: Pen Name!
Yes dude you're right! I forgot to mention getting Iranians killed with your "death to America" chants is your way of advancing the reappearance of Imam Mahdi!!!
Resisting US imperial schemes is the only way forward towards what the shahid President of Chile, Slavadore Allende, stated: "Economic independence, national independence, political independence."

Although I agree that the economic sanctions have hurt Iran, this plane in particular, was Russian, so I fail to see why they can't get the parts they need from Russia. Also, Iran trades with the EU, so they can also buy newer Airbus planes. Sorry as much as I think the economic sacntions should be lifted, you can't pin this tragey on America.
Anonymous: of course this cannot be "pinned" on America! I just thought american audience of this blog may be interested in knowing their country's "part" in Iran's tragedies :)
In case you didn't know yet, America penalizes European companies that do business with Iran!
I really don't get this pen Name dude. Especially because he sounds so reasonable 0.5% of the time.
So any country that buys planes from the U.S. is not considered free?
I'd love to see a day when we are so technologically independent that we can produce and maintain our own fleet of airplanes, but with the current strategy the fascists in Iran are following, that day is not going to come ANYTIME SOON!!!!! They are scaring away anyone with enough brains to hold a pencil! Never mind the rest!
We are one of the few truly independent countries in the world. No one has much leverage on us. Thus we are free from external political interference.
We resist US and they sanction us. They hit us and we him them back. There is no other way except surrender.
Stop complaining about US kicking Iran - that is the price of freedom of action as a country. Else be like the various US lackey's - Egypt, Japan, South Korea and they will sell you all the planes of the world.
Pen Name is independent of US, but dependent on Russia, that unlike the US dosn't have a democratic system that at least its activists can keep an eye on the government!
Pen name doesn't want boings or airbusses! He wants the broken Russian Tupoluvs that drop like donke poop off of the sky!
Pen name thinks he is free but he doesn't know his throat is being help by Chavez who ... uhm, screwed up Iran over oil! and by Hamas and Hizbollah that if reach peace with Israel will not give a shit about Iran-as they showed durint he Iran-Iraq war!!
Pen name, you are an idio! Or maybe you are just too khomar! What are you on? Opium?!
I have suggested you look at Dr. Friedman at Stratfor.com.
Once again, US is not responsible for this air disaster.
And you are laughing at me while you yourselves are subject of laughter by your so-called American friends. You are ridiculous to suggest US responsibility.
I recall a yar ago Iranians complaining about Google email being denied to Iranians in Iran. Same spoiled brat attitude and when I suggested they buy LINUX machines and set up a Server Farm in Iran there were no takers.
For the record, you are avoiding the discussion! I asked why are u promoting independence from US in exchange for dependence on Russia! We used to say na sharghi nagharbi!

I strongly object to your mis-characterization of the situation. Iranians are just incompetent.
We used to pay - in 1976 - $ 120,000 a year to have Boeing technicians service the planes we owned.
Now we have to do plane maintenance ourseleves. And we are not good.
The fault is not with US, it is with us.
Stop blaming others for our problems. Even Americans deserve to be fairly treated.
And why should they sell us their airplanes when we say " Death to America"?

Iran cannot buy Airbuses either because of US sanctions.
But that is an acceptable price to be Free.

I think pen name is only half sane! I am not publishing the posts that he is being my "khastegaar" for when/if I become single!
You know I have been visiting the MEsbah-like weblogs recently. Man, they ARE REALLY crazy! I think they operate on hallucinogens!

You are wrong in your assessment of the political independence of post-revolutionary Iran.
Completely wrong.

Study what?!
Would you mind recommending a few sources?
I only know of this one.
That's pretty much what you had in mind, right?
Pedestrian: LOL Good one good one! LOL
Seriously, if this dude can educate us out of our dark ignorance, that would be great! Pen: go ahead!
Just one rule:

I found another great source ;)
Okh ... Naj! Kheyli sakhteh! Nemitoonam bekhoonam! :(
Hasani rahat-tareh! ;-)
And it makes more sense too! :D
I got this part though:

Why don't learn a lesson out of their own playbook?

Bringing my mother into this discussion is not useful.

you are lecturing ME on necessity of independence from America?!!!!!
Here, tka a look at what one of your own has to say!
For the record, you are avoiding the discussion! I asked why are u promoting independence from US in exchange for dependence on Russia! We used to say na sharghi nagharbi!
Iran is not dependent on Russia.
During the War, they many times pressured us to change our policy towards Afghanistan's communist government. Which we did not.
If you think we are dependent on Russia, China, and others then you do not grasp the strategic situation.
And please do not use low language; it is most unattractive in a woman.

You know the game you are playing here;and my disagreement is not on your political views, rather countering your games.
You are intelligent enough to not act like a hypocrite now! That you DO is perhaps just to get me angry!
